Give Me Some Stats, Stat!

Here are some of our favorite statistics that we have gathered lately from around the interwebs that we thought were relevant insight worth sharing:

From the OMB, older workers are forgoing retirement and working longer:

From the New York Times, not all demographics are impacted by the recession the same when it comes to unemployment.  Click the image below to check out their interactive graph.

This one is like the car wreck you can't keep yourself from looking at, click the image to watch--key lesson we should all move to the mountain plains.

From People Report's own Kathy Cavin, who is our resident expert BLS data miner, we learn that as usual it's all about the women.  From 1983 to 2008 the percentage of women with 10+ years of tenure is on the rise, while for the same time period the percentage of men with 10+ years of tenure is falling dramatically.

And our favorite stat of the week comes from the FOX News affiliate in Chicago, a pie chart that sums to more than 100%, now that there's some fancy statistics.

As you start to celebrate this holiday season enlightened by your own favorite stats, be a little careful out there. As Mark Twain said, there are three kinds of lies; lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Have some interesting stats of your own about the economy or the workforce to share?  Drop us a comment with them.

Editors Note: I case you didn't know the medical term 'Stat' meaning "immediately" is a shortening of the Latin term 'Statim'
