What is People Report™?

People Report™ is the foremost provider of human resource metrics, benchmarks, trends and best people practices for the foodservice industry. Acknowledged by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation as an expert in workforce practices, this innovative research and consulting practice publishes quarterly and annual reports for it’s members that track, analyze and benchmark the people side of the P&L. Key findings are further analyzed by segment in the restaurant industry, categorized by sales, guest check, and, where possible, service style.

Founded in 1995, the People Report™ consortium is comprised of many of the industry’s leading companies. Membership represents over 12,000 units, distributed in 100+ concepts with system-wide sales of over 45 billion dollars. The database at People Report™ contains the individual records of 100,000+ unit level managers and tracks the collective work practices of over 655,000 employees. Workforce competitive data collected represents one in five foodservice employees in chain restaurants with more than 10 units.

What Does People Report™ Track?

  • Who We Hire
  • Where We Find Them
  • What We Pay Them
  • How Long They Stay With Us
  • Why They Leave and Where They Go
  • What All of This Costs

What Do People Report™ Members Know?

People Report™ members use their quarterly reports to spot and respond to key workforce trends, sooner than non-members. They have a critical strategic advantage over their competitors. Some examples of how People Report™ members use their reports:

  • To determine how their employment profiles (education levels, experience, etc.) compare to the industry both on average and best in class.
  • To know in advance, the impact that changing their recruiting strategies will have on key areas like Cost Per Hire, Salaries, Average Tenure and workforce demographics.
  • To know whether or not they are effectively utilizing every available source for management hires, and the effectiveness of those sources.
  • To predict the impact of key HR strategies and interventions on unit level hourly turnover.
  • How their salaries and bonuses compare to their most direct competitors.
  • Whether or not their workforce diversity goals are appropriate, and which recruiting strategies will best help them achieve these goals.
  • To recognize if and when to bring on recruiters, based both on numbers of hires and units per recruiter.
  • How to structure training programs for each management position with the added benchmarks of turnover in training as well as analysis of the impact of different training programs on future turnover.
  • Why their managers are leaving, where they go and how this compares to the industry overall.
  • The effectiveness of various benefits and compensation strategies as rated by other restaurant chains.
  • And Much More!
